Striving in the Month of Ramadan

Al-Imaam ibn Baaz رحمه الله تعالى said:

The believer, in this noble month, is in Jihaad (striving).

Jihaad with regards to the preservation of his fast and his standing in the (night) prayer.

Jihaad with regards to the Qur’aan; being diligent in reflecting over it and acting upon it.

Jihaad with regards to (meeting the needs of) his parents, relatives and his neighbours.

Jihad with regards to the Muslims (in general).

Hence, he is always in a state of jihaad.

Therefore, it is binding upon him to pay great attention and concern to this jihaad, and to ensure it is fruitful (i.e. beneficial)

He also safeguards his fast from the prohibitions of Allaah; all that is despised and forbidden.

Up until his fast is complete and sound.

Likewise, he safeguards his (night) prayer from showing off, laziness and weakness.

And he constantly safeguards all of his body parts from the prohibitions of Allaah.
