The Mawlid is an Innovated Practice (new video)

The Scholar Shaikh Abdul Muhsin bin Hamad Al-Abbad Al-Badr,  May Allah preserve and protect him, was asked:

Is the differing regarding celebrating the Prophet's Birthday due to ijtihaad (scholarly deduction), and thus open to some flexibility or is it an affair in which there is no flexibility in it.

Answer: All good is in following that which the Salaf of this Ummah were upon, and three hundred years passed (after the prophet ﷺ) and The Mawlid was never celebrated.

The Messenger ﷺ (himself) never celebrated his birthday, the Companions didn't celebrate it, the Taabi'een (followers of the Companions) didn't celebrate it and the Atbaa' taabi'een (those who followed them) didn't celebrate it either.

The celebration of (the so called) Mawlid was innovated in the fourth century.

And who was it that innovated it? It was the 'Ubaydiyoon, who ruled Misr (Egypt). And They were Raafidah, they are the ones who innovated it.

And their reason for doing this was to imitate the practice of the Christians. In summary, those who initiated the Mawlid were Raafidah, and their model was blind following (the practice of) the Christians.

So it is falsehood upon falsehood (darkness upon darkness).

So if it (i.e. the Mawlid) was something good, then the companions of the Prophet ﷺ would have preceded us to it. However, it is from the innovated practices.

And it is sufficient to know that the first 3 generations (of this ummah) passed and there has never occurred amongst them this celebration (of Mawlid).
