Imām as-Si'dī, may Allāh have mercy upon him, said:
"One the wisdoms of Islamic law is that just as it is the goal for the rectification of hearts, morals, deeds, and steadfastness on the straight path, it is also the goal for the rectification of the world. The affairs of the world cannot truly be rectified except by the true religion brought by Muhammad ﷺ. This is a tangible reality for every rational person. When the nation of Muhammad adhered to this religion, its principles, its branches, and all that guides and directs to it, their conditions were at the pinnacle of righteousness and rectification. When they deviated from it, and abandoned much of its guidance, and did not seek guidance from its lofty teachings, their worldly affairs deviated just as their religion did. Similarly, look at other nations that have reached tremendous levels of power, civilisation, and sophistication, but because they were devoid of the spirit of religion, mercy, and justice, their harm outweighed their benefit, and their evil was greater than their good. Their scholars, wise men, and rulers were unable to prevent the evils arising from it, and they will not be able to as long as they remain in their state. Therefore, it was from His Wisdom, Exalted be He, that what Muhammad ﷺ brought of religion and the Qur’ān is the greatest evidence of its truthfulness and the truthfulness of what he brought, because it is a comprehensive, perfect legislation that can only be achieved through it."
