It is Not Permissible to Mix with the People of Desires

Sheikh al-Islaam ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله تعالى said:

"It is not befitting/permitted for anyone from the people of the Sunnah to intermingle with anyone from the people of desires, accompanying them till he becomes his close (associate). This is out of fear he leads him to fall off (the path of the Sunnah), or leads others to fall off due to his association with him [I.e. this person that is on the Sunnah]." - Majmoo' al-Fataawa: 16/475
