Shaykh Muhammad ibn Sālih al-Uthaymīn, may Allāh have mercy upon him, said in Al-Ta'līq 'Ala Nūr Al-Yaqīn Fī Sīrah Sayyid Al-Mursalīn pg. 15:

"Indeed, the importance of reading the Prophetic biography is manifold:

First: That we come to know the condition of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), in terms of his noble lineage, honour, status, worship, character, and all his circumstances; for this increases our faith in him (peace and blessings be upon him), our love for him, and our hearts being perfumed with his remembrance.

Second: That we learn the rulings derived from this noble sīrah, whether in times of war and peace, hardship and ease, anger and other situations.

Third: That much of the Prophetic sīrah is connected to the Noble Qur’an and serves as a clarification of it; thus, we need to understand it in order to properly implement what is found in the Noble Qur’an.

Fourth: That it is not befitting for us, as a Muslim Ummah who follow this noble Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), to be ignorant of his condition and his sīrah. It is astonishing that one of us may be asked about a poet or a literary figure and he can describe him from head to toe, yet when asked about the sīrah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he knows nothing of it. This is undoubtedly a deficiency."
