It was reported in the biography of Imam Suhnūn (d.240h), may Allāh have mercy on him, that he visited Ibn Al-Qassār - while he was ill - and said:

"What is this dread (that I see you in)?" He told him: "Death and meeting Allāh (for reckoning)". Suhnūn said to him: "Do you not believe in the Messengers, the Resurrection and the Reckoning, Paradise and Hell, and that the best of this nation (after the Prophet) is Abu Bakr then Umar, and that the Qur’ān is the Speech of Allāh uncreated, and that Allāh will be seen on the Day of Resurrection, and that He has ascended over the Throne, and not to revolt against the rulers with the sword, even if they oppress?" He said: "Yes, by Allāh!" He said: "Die if you want, die if you want (i.e., have no fear whilst you die upon these beliefs)."
