Question posed to Sheikh AbdulAziz bin Baaz رحمه الله تعالى:
Q: Is it obligatory to believe in all of the Angels and Messengers? Also what is the ruling on the one who does not love some of them?
A: It is obligatory upon every believer that he believes in Allaah, His Angels, His Scriptures, and His Messengers. This is from the foundations of Eeman (Faith). It is a must that he believes in the Angels, even if he does not know their names. Meaning, he believes in those that have been mentioned by name (specifically), such as Jibra'eel, and Mikaa'eel and Israafeel etc.
He also believes in all of them (in the general sense), even if he does not know their names. He believes that to Allaah belong Angels that He has informed us about. They (the Angels) are obedient to Him and carry out His commands. From them are Jibra'eel, Mikaa'eel, the carriers of the Throne and so on.
He must also believe in all of the Messengers, even if he does not know their names. He believes that Allaah sent Messengers and they conveyed the Messages. Whomsoever Allaah has mentioned spefically, he believes in them, such as Nuh (Noah), Ibraheem (Abraham), Musa (Moses), Eesa (Jesus), Dawud (David), and Suleimaan (Solomon).
And regarding those whom Allaah has not spefically named, then he believes (in a general sense) that Allaah sent Messengers even if their names are not known.
Likewise, he believes in the final Messenger, Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, that he was a Messenger of Allaah (sent) to all of mankind and Jinn, and that he was the seal of the Prophets. It is a must believe in (all of) this. Whoever does not believe this then he is a disbeliever, and we ask Allaah for safety.
